Collagen Injections in Seattle
Also serving Bellevue, Kirkland, & Everett
Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its softness and fullness. When injected just beneath the skin surface, it replenishes the material that has been lost as a result of the mechanical action of the underlying muscles, the dissolving effects of the sun, and the natural aging process. Collagen treatments can be used to soften wrinkles and unwanted facial lines, fill out depressed scars, or add volume to the border of the lip. As a top Seattle, Tacoma and Bellevue cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Pratt has been successfully performing collagen injections since 1995 and has many thrilled patients. View Dr. Pratt’s photo gallery.
What are the latest and greatest collagen products?
The newest generation of Collagen Replacement Therapy® consists of two different products, Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm, injectable facial fillers which are used to replenish your skin’s lost collagen, restoring a youthful skin structure.
How do Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm work?
Both products work by replenishing the collagen layer, filling lines, wrinkles, furrows, and scars from the inside out, resulting in an immediate improvement of your condition.
What is the difference between Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm?
Cosmoderm is used for fine lines. Cosmoplast is denser and is used for treatment of deeper lines and furrows.
Will I need a test injection before I can be treated with collagen?
No. Unlike the previous generation of injectable collagen (Zyderm and Zyplast), these new products are derived from non-animal sources, thus there is no longer the need to have a test injection prior to beginning your first treatment.
What part of my face can be improved with Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast?
Collagen Replacement Therapy® can be used to help refine your lip line, fill in worry lines on your forehead, and frown lines between your eyebrows. The nasolabial creases between your nose and mouth and fine lines around your mouth (smoker’s lines) can also be significantly reduced with Cosmoplast or Cosmoderm.
Can Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm be used together or with other fillers?
Yes, they can often be used together in order to obtain optimal results. Sometimes a combination of Cosmoplast, Cosmoderm, and hyaluronic acid-based filler may be recommended by Dr. Pratt.
How frequently will I need to have Collagen Replacement Therapy®?
Touch up injections will usually be required two or three times a year. The amount of collagen used during follow-up treatments is usually less than that used in the initial treatment. Touch-up appointments are typically shorter than with most other fillers, since no local anesthetic is required.
Are the injections painful?
Both Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm contain small amounts of the numbing medicine Lidocaine. The first few injections can be slightly uncomfortable, however, after that, little to no pain will be experienced.
What is recovery like?
Most people feel completely comfortable resuming their daily activities immediately after treatment. You may experience some temporary puffiness, temporary blushing, slight bruising, or tenderness at the site of injection, but this is usually short-lived and can be easily camouflaged with makeup. Avoidance of aspirin and ibuprofen type products prior to injection will help minimize the bruising effect. For the first twenty four hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure
Who will perform my collagen injection?
