Radiesse Dermal Filler in Seattle

Also serving Bellevue, Kirkland, & Everett

Radiesse® (previously called Radiance) is a safe, synthetic, next generation cosmetic dermal filler that lasts longer than many other fillers. One of the most exciting products yet to be introduced for facial rejuvenation, Radiesse is setting a new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles, restoring a natural, youthful look in an easy, convenient treatment. For examples of plastic surgeon Dr. Pratt’s work, please view our photo gallery.

Immediate results are noted following a treatment with Radiesse, and best of all, this filler typically lasts a year or longer. At Pratt Plastic Surgery in Seattle, WA, we have received much positive feedback about the gratifying results from our Bellevue, Tacoma, Everett and Seattle Radiesse patients.

Radiesse can be used to fill acne scars, pitting, and hollow or sunken areas. It does well at smoothing deeper furrows like nasolabial folds, frown lines, and wrinkles around the mouth.

What is Radiesse made of?

Radiesse consists of unique tiny calcium-based microspheres which are suspended in a natural aqueous gel that is added to the skin through a simple, safe and minimally invasive procedure. Radiesse is compatible with the body, since calcium hydroxylapatite has a structure identical to the calcium we have in teeth and bones.

How does Radiesse work?

Following a local anesthesia, Radiesse is injected into the skin delivering an immediate long lasting, natural result. It’s injected to a deeper level than Restylane or collagen, and depending on where Radiesse is injected, it changes its consistency to match.

For instance, when injected into a fleshy area, it stays soft and moldable, but injected near bone; it becomes hard, adding to the structural shape of that area. The microspheres form a matrix through which your natural collagen is stimulated to grow into.

This growth process enhances the filling effect and leaving a long lasting result even after the microspheres are dissolved into your body. Also, because of this tissue in-growth process, less product is required for the average nasolabial correction.

How safe is Radiesse?

Radiesse was approved by the FDA for treatment of facial folds and wrinkles. Since calcium is a natural substance in our body, no allergy testing is required prior to your treatment.

Calcium hydroxylapatite has been safely used for many years in dental, facial, and orthopedic surgery. Its other components are on the FDA’s G.R.A.S. (Generally Regarded as Safe) list for their safe long-term use in other products.

In addition, hundreds of thousands of patients have been safely treated worldwide with Radiesse. Although long lasting, because it is not permanent, Radiesse has none of the risks associated with permanent implants.

How long will Radiesse last?

Individual results will vary. However, the majority of patients report correction for approximately twelve to eighteen months although results lasting up to three years have been reported. Duration of the product’s effect can be enhanced by touch-up treatments.

Are the injections painful?

Prior to injection, your skin will be numbed so that the Radiesse injection will be completely painless.

Who will perform my Radiesse injection?

Dr. Pratt personally performs all of the injections done in our office including the local anesthetic if one is needed, so you can rest assured that you will have someone who is not only technically very skilled, but also artistically gifted performing your procedure.

Dr. Pratt believes in subtle, natural looking enhancements. His ultimate goal is that you leave with a well rested, relaxed, and refreshed appearance.

How many treatments will be required?

Dr. Pratt is often able to achieve optimal correction with the first injection. Occasionally, additional touch-up injections will be required, usually at six to eight weeks post-injection in order to achieve optimal results.

Am I an appropriate candidate for Radiesse?

If your goal is to reduce the signs of aging by improving the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds, and you are wishing for a relatively long lasting result, you may be an ideal candidate for Radiesse treatments.

Dr. Pratt will evaluate you and offer his expert opinion as to what he thinks will work best to bring out your natural beauty.

What is recovery like?

Most people feel completely comfortable resuming their daily activities immediately after treatment. You may experience some temporary puffiness, temporary blushing, slight bruising, or tenderness at the site of injection, but this is usually short-lived and can be easily camouflaged with makeup.

Avoidance of aspirin and ibuprofen type products prior to injection will help minimize the bruising effect. For the first twenty four hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure.

What other treatments will complement my Radiesse injection?

Dr. Pratt often will perform simultaneous Botox® injections for relief of the effect of the underlying muscles on wrinkle and fold creation. In addition to his work as a Radiesse Seattle / Bellevue specialist, Dr. Pratt is also considered a top Seattle lip augmentation, Juvederm and Perlane provider.
